Located roughly 30 miles south of the 10 and 20 miles northeast of Tombstone along North Pearce Road, you will find the ghost town ruins of Courtland.

Courtland was founded in 1909 when, like many other SoAZ Ghost Towns, there was a discovery of copper and mining operations began. Nestled at the base of the Dragoon Mountains, Courtland became quickly established and had a population of over 2000 in its heyday. But, as the story seemed to go when the mining died out, so did the town. Courtland was mostly non-existent by the early 1920s.

Today, you can find the ruins of one building remaining, the Courtland Jail.

Courtland is accessible by car and is located along a dirt road. Be cautious if you get out to explore as this is not a well-maintained area and there could be wildlife around. The nearest, and most easily accessible town, is Sunsites to the North.
